These character designs were created for an original comic project titled Black Nylon, developed in collaboration with my former band. After I moved to the United States in 2022, and with the members of the band displaced across different countries due to the war in Ukraine, we created a fictional band and narrative as a way to stay connected creatively.
The project explores identity, performance, and emotional expression through three main characters: a drummer, guitarist, and vocalist. Each design reflects both their musical role and personality, combining elements of stage presence, fashion, and individual attitude.
The rendering process involved extensive visual research, including references for musical instruments, performance poses, alternative fashion, and stage styling such as makeup and hair. I focused on creating visually distinct silhouettes and cohesive aesthetics while maintaining a shared visual language across the group.
This project represents both a technical study in character design and a personal attempt to preserve creative collaboration despite physical distance and ongoing conflict.
